Wizard's Familiar Basics

Document handling

Wizard's Familiar's document handling is different from many applications. Wizard's Familiar ensures that changes made to your deck are automaticlly saved to the deck file. This means you can consider the contents of the deck editor to be the same as those on disk. There is no save command on Wizard's Familiar file menu because the editor always reflects the file contents and visa versa. The file menu is structured like this:

File menu

New | Deck
Launch the New Deck wizard to create a new deck.
Open Deck...
Open an existing deck using the standard file open dialog.
Close
Close the current deck. The contents will be saved without asking.
Copy Deck...
Make a copy of the current deck. Using the file save dialog box you can give the copy your choice of name and location.
Rename or Move Deck...
Rename or move the current deck. Using the file save dialog box you can move the current deck to a new location or rename it.
Abandon Changes to Deck
Restore the current deck to the state it was before you started editing it.

The Deck Editor

The Deck Editor appears in the main window of Wizard's Familiar. Each deck you open or create will result in a new editor opening in the editor area. Each deck editor will appear as a tabbed window in the editor area. When you start Wizard's Familiar the last decks you edited will be reopened and the editor windows will be positioned as you left them.

Views

Views offer support for the deck design process. You can search for cards with the Card Library view and see the details of cards with the Card Information view. To access the available views in Wizard's Familiar use the commands on the View menu. Once you turn on a view Wizard's Familiar will remember that the view is visible. You can also drag and drop views to various positions around the application, change their size and stack them together as groups. Some views even allow you to create multiple instances. The arrangement of view you create will be remembered by Wizard's Familiar.
